Chartiers Center is happy to announce that we have officially opened our office at the Community Resource Center [CRC], 500 Chartiers Avenue, McKees Rocks. The CRC is a result of local providers coming together to meet the needs of residents in McKees Rocks, a neighborhood in distress with a high rate of poverty, crime and drug involvement.
Father Ryan’s Art Center/Focus on Renewal [FOR] initiated the idea of the CRC project and invited Chartiers to be a driving partner in this initiative. Planning for this over the past year, Cindy Haines, FOR Executive Director, her staff, and the CRC affiliates have worked tirelessly to create a one stop spot for fighting poverty in McKees Rocks. The CRC is a place where residents can access services and referrals for their basic needs. Sue Coyle, CEO and Rod Willaman, COO of Recovery Support Services have represented Chartiers Center during the planning stages and they are now excited to see the doors of the CRC open.
Rachelle Schimmel, Chartiers’ Administrative Service Coordinator, has an office in the CRC. She will assist those individuals/families with a known or suspected behavioral health issue to be linked to services/benefits/transportation etc. Rachelle will also be joining the treatment team meetings at the Health Center as a resource person with the plan to link individuals/families between the Health Center and the CRC.
The other affiliates that will be located at the CRC include Allegheny Children’s Initiative, North Hills Community Outreach and McKees Rocks Community Development Corporation. FOR will oversee the operations of the CRC.
