Chartiers Center Opens New Housing Program to Provide Short Term Support

Vulcan imageChartiers Center is happy to announce the opening of a new housing program at Chartiers Center. The program is called Vulcan and will live with our other programs serving the homeless and/or marginally housed.
Chartiers Center’s Vulcan Program is funded through the Housing Opportunity Fund/ Housing Stabilization Program(HOF/HSP) of the Urban Redevelopment Authority (URA).The program provides one time and/or short term funding to individuals and families  who are struggling with housing expenses including mortgage payments, security deposits, rent and/or utilities. It is designed to assist participants to stabilize current housing or facilitate access to appropriate housing and prevent homelessness. Assistance is available to individuals or families who reside in the City of Pittsburgh or who can verify they are planning to move to the City. The maximum assistance is $3,000 and funding support is not to exceed 3 months. Verification of all income and eligibility is required prior to the provision of assistance.
Like our other programs, Chartiers Center’s staff will also assist the individual/family in taking steps to further stabilize their housing situation. Referrals will come to us via the United Way 211.

All referrals go through the United Way 2-1-1 Program that Operates 24 hours per day.
