This Shinning Star always makes a point to recognize her team. Everyday she reinforces the idea that they support one another which enables them all to share in the success of the team. That said she will be surprised to learn she is in fact the one being recognized for her extra efforts as the team lead with the H2O Program. According to her nomination, Katy Ringstad is a huge cheerleader for her staff crediting them for their consumer’s success in the program. She also gives words of encouragement to her staff and is always there when we needed. In addition to her staff, Katy sees to the physical and mental health needs of her consumers and is quick to offer support. For instance, she recognized her homeless consumer’s need for food and spearheaded “Mary’s Market.” Mary’s Market was created to provide food to street homeless and to provide bags of food to help others who ran short of food.
She has personally supported the pantry by clipping coupons and shopping for the items on the week-end. Every week seems to give rise to the same challenge, how much can she save on her purchases? Katy has drawn the attention of many a cashier when she leaves the store after cashing in all of her coupons. One of her favorite sayings is, “Guess how much I paid for all of that?” Recently it was toothpaste that was on sale and once she redeemed her coupons little to no cash changed hands with the cashier!
She organized the pantry shelves and dated all the cans to highlight their expiration dates. Routinely the food pantry has received many donations from staff and board members and Katy keeps everyone up to date when the supply runs low. Katy also came up with the name “Mary’s Market” to honor a deceased employee. To date many individuals and families have received help thru Mary’s Market all due to Katy’s persistence and compassion.
Congrats Katy! You are a well deserved shinning star.
