On Friday, December 16th Chartiers’ hosted the 1st annual blended Xmas event for consumers from the IDD Program, Training and Social Rehab Program and the Community Residential Rehab Program. Staff from the 3 programs came together and planned the day’s activities, while the individuals from each of the programs took part in making the decorations and food. Santa even found time to stop by to greet all his friends and sing a little karaoke.
The event was held at the Mt. Lebanon United Methodist Church and the pizza was donated courtesy of Fox’s Pizza. The snowman center pieces were made by the folks in the IDD program. There was a centerpiece on each table and they were made from all recycled products (empty water bottles and pudding cups). The creativity did not end there. The consumers from T&SR made the home made cookie cutter ornaments that hung on the tree and the residents from CRR made fresh muffins for all to start off the morning. Other decorations and sweet creations were made by different groups as everyone came together to celebrate. Did I forget to mention the DJ? Everyone enjoyed taking a turn or two at karaoke! Possibly the highlight of the celebration.
The party was a “crossing of service lines” which integrated consumers from three different programs. As the staff worked hard to coordinate the day’s event, everyone agreed that they are already looking forward to the next gathering. More to come on what is next for this blended group.
