Critical Needs Day Supports Chartiers Center Client Services

Aug 3, 2022

We want to thank all who donated to Chartiers Center through the Critical Needs Campaign. We are happy to report we raised over $2k thanks to your generosity. The money will help clients, and families, bridge the gap of essential needs like food, clothing, and bedding.

The staff and leadership of Chartiers Center are committed to providing compassionate support to those in need who face behavioral health, co-occurring disorders, or IDD challenges as they transform their lives. Our goal is to provide mental health treatment and connect our consumers to other resources to support their physical health and overall wellness. Chartiers Center staff meet each individual where they are and work with them to identify goals to treatment and improved health. Chartiers Center is grateful to be included in this One-Day Critical Needs Event on August 9th as the donations made will benefit the individuals and families served who have a mental health illness. Donations made will go directly towards client needs for treatment, food, and the basic needs of our homeless to housing consumers.

Our portfolio of services is compiled into services lines to show the continuity of our operations. Below are highlights from some of our service lines: Recovery Treatment Services: This service line is home to the programs that provide treatment, therapy and medication management. Recovery Support Services: Largely compromised of residential programs, this service line assists severely mentally ill individuals in their recovery while allowing them to live successfully in the community. Recovery Rehabilitation Services: Like our Recovery Support Services, this service line assists individuals in learning skills, developing recovery strategies and accessing and often complicated set of systems. Additionally, this service line is home to our renowned Homeless Services. Resilience Support Systems: This service offers two adult day programs where individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities can develop friendships, learn skills and obtain life-enriching experiences. Testimonials  “The Mobile Psych Rehab team has been a great help to me. It has affected my life in a positive way. It has given me many good ways to work out problems and be able to lead a better life. Through psych rehab I have worked on improving my financial situation. My checking account has been a work in progress but has been getting better as we go. Also, through psych rehab we have been doing job-related work such as making a resume and applying for jobs online. The thing I most appreciate about psych rehab is their willingness to help and not give up on me. They are always there and that’s one thing I do appreciate.” – LD “I am so thankful to have access to Mary’s Market. When I have months where I struggle to put food on the table, I know I can ask my therapist for a bag of food that will hold me over. Mary’s Market is just awesome. Thank you.” – Anonymous “I am 51 years old, and I’m a recovering addict. I came to Pittsburgh in 2005. I’ve been homeless off and on for the last seven years due to my addiction. I never had my “own” place. I always lived with someone/anyone – a lot of times in unsafe environments. So for awhile I stayed on the “streets.” My mother said I was going to die with my shoes on my feet. That made me give up. I finally realized in 2014 I deserved so much more in life. Thanks to Stephanie Villella. My true guardian angel is Holly Sonney who became my case manager in April. Thanks to her hard work, I signed my lease on May 28, 2015 for my own apartment. This is my first apartment. I’m truly blessed and grateful to her and the Hestia Program.” – Carol S. “I love my job at Chartiers’ CRR as a Certified Peer Specialist. I continue to learn from staff and the residents that I communicate with during my shifts. The most enjoyable part of my job is helping others with mental and or substance abuse move along in their journey to recovery. It is a very rewarding job for those looking for a job that provides meaning and purpose.” – Anonymous Employee “Chartiers Center is forever striving to have a greater impact on our community and maintains a commitment to serving individuals with intellectual disabilities, and those recovering from behavioral health and/or substance abuse.” – Susan Coyle, CEO, Chartiers Center
