Five Benefits of an Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP)

Sep 24, 2024

Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP) offer a unique approach to substance use and co-occurring mental health disorder treatment. Here are five benefits of enrolling in an IOP as your path to recovery.

Convenient Appointments

IOPs give the patients more freedom, allowing them to access treatment while continuing to work and/or live at home. With options for both virtual and in-person appointments, our program ensures that getting the help you need fits into your daily life.

Learn and Practice Recovery Skills

Individuals enrolled in IOP learn relapse prevention and practice recovery skills that can be used in their daily lives. Unlike residential treatment programs, IOPs allow patients to apply what they learn during their treatment in real-time.

Peer Support and Therapy

Group therapy is a crucial element of an IOP. Sharing thoughts, feelings, and experiences in a safe space with other individuals who are on the same path of recovery helps patients feel less alone and allows them to build relationships with people who understand what they are going through.

Access to Local Community Services

Often, individuals need additional support unrelated to their substance use or co-occurring mental health disorders. Patients have access to case management and care coordination services while participating in the program to provide additional support in other areas of their life.

Cost-Effective Alternative

One of the major advantages of enrolling in an IOP instead of traditional inpatient programs is the cost savings. Since it doesn’t involve staying overnight at a residential facility, which can be costly, IOP is more affordable.

These benefits combined with Medication Assisted Treatment provide a holistic and comprehensive approach to recovery and ensure that our clients see more success and purpose in their life.
